My Test:

For the three I get to chose I will be using my work on:
1.  the balloon racer-look below
2.  the magnet car-look below
3.  the balloon into space-I know ours didn't really work but I am more using how we made the check list and helped organize things; also doing other strange things for other groups like coping things.  There are many posts below this one that explains our ideas and what ended up happening!

Magnet Car

Sara and I worked together on the magnet car and it is working really well.  It is two long lego pieces with a one of those black long straight pieces as the axis.  We have two small wheels on the back so they don't wiegh the back down and we have two big wheels on the front to keep all the acceleration going.  Our car is very easily rolled which is good.  For our magnet we took a U shaped one and duck taped it to the top.  We then took a ruler and put two U shaped magnets on the end of it that make the other one repel.  This works really well.  Our first time we got a minute and 18 seconds but we cut it down to just 33 seconds.  Also one time we just went one way and it was only 13 seconds.  One problem with this is that some of the time the magnets get messed up and connect which does cause some issues but hopefully all will be ok!

Balloon Car Extra:

Basic Facts:
mass=20 grams
acceleration=0.0716
net force=1.432

Our Car:
Sara, Elizabeth, and I worked on this car together.  Basically all our car was was a piece of cardboard and bottle caps as the wheels.  Then we had a pipe connected to the two balloons so that we could blow it up easier and so when the air came out all of the air just came out of the pipe.  This idea worked really well.  What helped our car do so well is because it was very light weight but enough mass to let it be able to continue rolling.

For more information look at Sara's (she also has a video I believe)

March 2, 2011

Today Elizabeth, Eleanor, and I worked on making a check list for all the groups.  We also made a to do list for the entire grade to begin thinking about and working on.  Mr. Harrelson will be adding it to griffin science so you can see it there.  We will try to keep it updated as well as possible!

Our Project that failed and now to TEAM BOUY!!!!!

When testing our container worked really well the first 4 times.  We did it the 5th time and Fluffy's container busted... :(  Fluffy did live and so did the camera so that was good!  Class was over after that so we couldn't do that much more but now that it is Monday and we only have a few days left I have asked Jessica if we could help them out and she said that was fine.  There idea seems great and I can't wait to help out with it!  I have tried to figure out what went wrong with our other one and when watching the video I saw that the container landed side-ways on the top and we forgot to pad the top and so that was most likely wrong.
When being with Jessica and her group I suggested that they add a tiny bit of padding on the inside and on the top.  Now they have a tennis ball on the outside of the top and we gave them felt to help pad the inside. Hope it works well!
Also it isn't just Jessica it is Jessica, Mary Grace, Luke, and Madeline that make up Team Bouy!!!!!!!
